The Commuter is a kit for those of us who dare to enjoy a slower pace in our lives. The 500w hub motor will go a modest 26mph top speed, which is enough for most rides out and about. This kit is best suited to city and town riding, where the efficiency of the 500w motor offers a better range, and where even a 1000w can feel like overkill. The 500w will get you up most hills you can encounter with a boost from your own two legs, and can feel much more natural when pedal assisted.
If you are looking to go zooming up hills and mountains, this kit may not be the one for you - for anything else, this is the one. We personally would recommend this for anyone looking for a cheaper alternative to a standard electric bike you might buy in a shop, or anyone that really just needs to get around town, and nothing more.
This kit is in much closer territory to a legal electric bike out of the box by UK law, but can be restricted the 15.5mph legal EAPC limit, and can be used without the throttle, purely on pedal assist.
